Olympic Artwork
This term we have been doing an olympic art piece with two similes and two metaphors. For the people that don’t know what a simile and a metaphor is i will explain
A simile is a comparison using like or as example Hiss Hills was as angry as a dragon.
A metaphor is a direct comparison not using like or as bout you can us was example Miss Hills is a dragon.
Around the border is olympic vocabulary like the 3 olympic values excellence, friendship and respect.
For the math side of it we tessellated (for people that don't know what a tessellation is a tessellation is a repeating pattern that has no gaps and is coloured in a pattern.)
To make this we had to choose an athlete and take a photo of our head cut the athlete heads off. No i did not kill them and stick my head on the athlete's body and then stick it onto the tessellation art then I glued the tessellation onto the A3 bit of paper that a few inches had been cut off and then Miss Hills laminated it and then it was done, now is hanging in room 10.

Hong Kong STEM Challenge No. 2
Materials we had access to:
6 x long sticks
1 x wooden square
2 x pipe cleaners
2 x straws
1 x 1m ruler
11 x plastic cubes
1 x bunch of popsicle sticks
4 x wooden small flat pieces
Challenge #1
Build a structure with a cube as the base:
In challenge 1 was quite hard because we had to have steady hands or we would knock it over and we would have to rebuild it.
Challenge #2
Build the tallest structure that you can and your base can be any size:
Challenge #2 was two was easier than challenge 1 because we got to use any bottom base and make the tallest building. But the building would always fall over so I will get angry at it.
Challenge #3
Build a structure with something that balances off the side of it:
Challenge 3 was really easy because we were building it a little safe. It didn’t turn out that impressive but it still to us was the best thing we have ever sore.

Moment In Time Week 7
. Some of us have even used ‘Show Don’t Tell’ in our writing to provide our reader Today our teacher asked us to write a ‘Moment In Time’ piece using a picture of a boy in the water. We planned as a class to make sure we had the 5 W’s and the 6 Senses.
Before we began our writing in small groups we discussed the importance of using descriptive writing, using similes and metaphors where appropriate, using dialogue and have done our best to make sure our punctuation is correct.with more of an experience.
Our teacher gave us 10 minutes for each paragraph and then 10 minutes for editing at the end. We had so much fun working together!
If you have a moment, we would love you to comment on our writing.
Boy Overboard!
Jack and uncle Cakey were looking over the side of boat trying to catch a glimpse at the great white shark, suddenly he tripped over the anchor rope that his uncle told him to put away and he fell into the water like a polar bear diving for its food. “HELP!” cried Jack but uncle Cakey could not hear him because he was deaf. Jack was gasping for air as he was slowly drowning, he thought he would die.
The teeth chattering water was rising above his head,he could see sharks that had eyes of steal. They were surrounding him like they had not eaten in months. He was as scared as a kid in a haunted house and he was missing his mum and his Uncle Cakey,he was fading into the darkness just him and his lonely soul.
He decided to lie on his back, say his prayers and let nature do what nature needed to do. The goosebumps on his arms were slowly going away, the waves were pushing up and down. He was now in the power of nature. He knew the right thing would happen and he might not die a painful death.
Written by Memphis, Jipsy, Daisy and Mereana.
Memphis:
I think me and my team done really well on working together and finding where we needed to put full stops and capitals letters.
Jipsy:
I think that me and my crew done really well for this moment in time, cause we had a lot of ideas in our mind that we shared.
Mereana:
I think that me and my group did really well. I liked that everyone put all their great ideas together and made a good piece of writing. I also learnt some new words from my group.
Daisy:
I think me and my group did well on this piece of writing because we all put all our ideas together and made a really good piece of writing that is really descriptive and has a simile that decrided the sentence that it was used really well. But in this piece of writing we still needed to go back and change same words and read it for sense |

Moment In time writing
Wagging school!!!!
As Cakey and Kitkat were walking to school they realised that they had a maths test that day and they really did not want to do it, so they decided to waggg and just go to the park and play soccer.
When they were at the park they were happily playing like Cristiano Ronaldo trying to impress the crowd of fans. Out of nowhere was miss boo the head teacher people described her as the dragon of words “Oh no,where do we run to” cried Cakey “ Run” said Kitkat so Kitkat ran and Cakey just hide in the slide that was a hot stove. But what Cakey did not realised was that Miss Boo had the class because they did so well in the test that she took them down to park to have a play all the kids went straight for the slide, his sweaty parms just got worst and the biggest thing going thow this head was to run or do i just own up he decided to just own so he walked guilty he walked up to Miss boo and owed up. Miss Boo was like “ And why did you wagg” yelled Miss Boo “ I had a sore tummy so i thought that i would came down to the park and get some fresh air” “ Ok then” said Miss Boo “would you like to go home” “no I will be ok” said Cakey in realefe that he did not get in trouble. But he decided that he would not say anything about Kitkat but Kitkat was guilty like a kid that has stolen candy from a candy shop.

Matariki reflection
Matariki is a time for reflection. Yesterday with Whaea Toni we took the time to reflect on our year and set a new goal here is the goal I set:
We made a matariki star we used our algebraic thinking. we had a pattern to follow 1, 2, and down 1, and up we repeated this pattern until we got the star.

Matariki Celebration
Manu Tukutuku
Every year the māori people celebrate the māori new year, which is called Matariki. During Matariki people gather together and do things like kapa haka, feasts, nakule bones and make manu.
For our school Matariki celebration we made manu (kites). To make these we used toetoe and raupō but before we cut the toetoe we said a karakia. We said a karakia because of the tikanga, tikanga means why we do what we do and to respect the plants. Then our teacher Miss Hills cuts off toetoe for us because there was some cutty grass and our teacher on the weekend collected the raupō but I can guarantee she said a karakia before she cut it.
To make our kites we needed to work as a team. My bubby was Philip we had some ups and downs with doing this because sometimes we did not always agree with each other. The thing I think I did well was the weaving on the kite to hold in the raupō strips The thing I was not so good at was explaining to Philip how to weave the sides because in my head I only knew how to do it myself. In the end Miss Hills showed him how to do it and our manu turned out really good.Thank you reading my piece of writing I hope you learnt something about Matariki.

Jaxs fish n chips
Purpose: thank you
Dear Jax
Thank you for coming to Rangikura school to sing opera to us we really like it. The singers were really funny and sang clearly.
My favorite part was when Adina was getting kissed by the famous guy all up her arm. The most funny part was when nemo got sold the Elixer of Love when really it was L&P. The sad part was when Nemo said he only had 50c.
I hope you came again and do a different show.
Yours sincerely
Daisy

Instructions On How To Weave A Box
You will need:
- A3 page of paper
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Cellotape
1.First get all the things that are on the listed above then you will be ready to start.
2.Cut out 10 strips of paper 30cm long and 1cm wide.
3.Start by putting 5 strips of paper on a flat surface then weave the other 5 strips in.
4. Push all the weaving in the middle then you can cellotape the middle of it so it does not move.
5.Then push all the long outside over the middle and where the line is on the squares line cut all the long bits there do that for all four.
6.cut out another four strips that are 24cm long and 1cm wide.
7. fold then into quarters so they have four corners take the strip and put it though all four sides.
8. As you go sellotape the corners as you go.
9. With the last three strips do the same as step seven.
10. Now you have a cool weaved box.
